Health, Safety and Environment

Our Mission and Vision

Xtreme Drilling and Coil Services is committed to providing a work environment that is free of known hazards for our employees, visitors and contractors, while serving as a steward for the environment. We believe every incident is preventable and strive to continually improve our Health, Safety & Environment performance year after year.

Our HSE program focuses on:

  • Ensuring that preventing accidents and injuries takes precedence over expedience
  • Recognizing, managing and reducing hazards
  • Operating an incident-free workplace

We work to achieve these goals through rig safety inspections; Job Safety Analysis (JSA); our Safety Actions for Excellence (S.A.F.E.) program; pre-job, pre-tour and weekly safety meetings; and training—both formal and on-the-job.

Accountability and Technological Advancement

From the newest employee to the most senior, everyone at Xtreme is held accountable for the safety of themselves and their co-workers. Each employee, contractor and visitor of Xtreme is required to report—and has the authority to stop—any unsafe act or condition which is observed.

Our rig designs reflect the tremendous value that Xtreme places on safety. From hydraulic elevated pipe racks to our process for moving rigs, we've implemented many initiatives to prevent our employees from being exposed to hazards and reduce the probability of an incident.

Multiple Training Programs

All field employees receive safety leadership training conducted by a third-party company. This 2-½ day course covers safety, communication, leadership, brainstorming and team-building.

Xtreme is accredited by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) to conduct HSE Rig Pass training with the SafeLand endorsement. All new employees receive this training within 2 weeks of joining Xtreme.

Additionally, we have developed the Xtreme Competency Assurance Program (XCAP). This program has received IADC accreditation for the Floorhand and Derrickman positions, and is in the developmental stages for Motorman, Assistant Driller, Driller, Rig Manager and Safety Supervisor. Xtreme is currently the only land-based drilling contractor to receive this accreditation.

Additional training for Xtreme employees includes Well Control, First Aid/CPR, Forklift and 14 other training programs required by state or federal regulations.

Incident Reporting

Since Xtreme began operations in 2006, we have continually lowered the Total Recordable Incident Rate and Lost Time Incident Rate while increasing the number of rigs, employees and man-hours. Xtreme currently reports safety statistics to:

  • IADC
  • ISNetworld
  • PEC/Premier
